LEGION OF MARY

The Legion of Mary is the first mandated organization in the lay apostolate founded by Frank Duff in September 7, 1921 in Dublin, Ireland. The LOM is parish based at the disposal of the bishop of the diocese and the parish priest for any and every form of social service and Catholic action. In brief terms, they are the extension of the pastor. Legionaries go where the pastor cannot go or do what the pastor cannot do.
LOM has a handbook which prescribes its rules and regulations for its prayers, meetings, functions activities. The most significant work considered the “eye” of the Legion apostolate is home visitation. One characteristic feature of LOM is that it is strictly prohibited from giving material relief in any form.
In mid 1990, the Mary the Queen gave birth to another praesidium, IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY. To date the, Mary Queen of Peace has the following officers and members: Rosie de los Reyes, president; Josie Roa, vice-president;

In brief terms, it’s members are the extension of the parish priest and should go where he cannot go and should do what he cannot do.
It’s aim is self-sanctification through prayer and action. It has a handbook to follow. Meeting is weekly. Assignments are given every week. Work done is reportedly the following meeting. The “eye” of the legion apostolate is the home visitation.

The LOM in CTK was p established its first praesidium (smallest unit of LOM) in March 1989 named MARY QUEEN OF PEACE with following as its founding members: Priscila Pacheco, Digas Alikpala , Josie Roa, Milan Cruz, Linda Tanjangco and Elay Leano. In mid 1990, it gave birth to a new praesidium, IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY. Officers today are: Rosie Delos Reyes, president; Josie Roa, vice president; Linda Tanjangco, secretary; Nina Feliciano, Treasurer. Members are: Digas Alikpala, Nelia Cortez, Cita Coronel, Milan del Fonso, Priscila Pacheco, Sun Figueras, Susan Sunga, Carol Quizon, Mila Cruz, Carol De Jesus, Butch Yulo, Minia Dionisio, Norma Mendoza.
LOM regular parish activities are the 2,000 Hail Mar us every Saturday and the daily .Rosary procession in the month of October.
